About us
The Piano Duo Zilan & Zhao has been established since the year 2011 by two chinese talented young pianists - Zilan Liang & Zhao Lei.
2011 Zilan Liang & Zhao Lei postgraduated from the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz in Austria with the Master of Art Degree in Piano Performance.
Zhao Lei studied with Prof. Ayami Ikeba, Zilan Liang studied with renown concert pianist Prof. Markus Schirmer and Prof. Balazs Szokolay at the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz. They performed piano recitals and chamber music concerts in Austria, Germany, Scotland, Spain, Hungary, Bulgaria, Greece, Italy, China, and impressed audiences there. They also won some prizes in international piano competitions.
The Piano Duo Zilan & Zhao studied with Prof. Ayami Ikeba, since 2014 study "The Master of the Piano-Duo Performance" at the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz with renown Piano Duo Silver-Garburg.
2017 The Piano Duo Zilan & Zhao postgraduated "passed with distinction" from the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz in Austria with the Master of Art Degree in Piano Duo Performance.
Masterclass with Prof. Aquiles Delle Vigne, Prof. Hans-Peter and Volker Stenzl.
The Piano Duo Zilan & Zhao has won serveral prizes at the International Piano Duo Competition and Chamber Music Competition.
2013 won the First-Prize in the"Piano Duo" Section at the 5th International Competition '' Giovani Musicisti - Citta di Treviso " , Italy.
2015 won the Second-Prize (first not assigned) in the "Tina Orsi Anguissola Scotti" Chamber Music Prize at the Val Tidone International Music Competition, Italy.
2015 won the Second-Prize in the “Four Hands Duo” Section at the XXV “Roma” International Piano Competition, Italy.
2015 won the Second-Prize in the “Two Pianos Duo” Section at the XXV “Roma” International Piano Competition, Italy.
2015 won the First-Prize in the "Piano Duo" Section at the "Martha Debelli" Scholarship Competition Graz, Austria.
2016 won the First-Prize in the "Piano Duo" Section at the XVII "TIM" International Music Competition Torino, Italy.
2016 was the Finalist in the 15th International Chamber Music Competition Almere, Holland.
The Piano Duo Zilan & Zhao has been performed in the most famous concert halls like Stefaniensaal, Minoritensaal, György-Ligeti-Saal MUMUTH Graz in Austria and Auditorium "Stefanini" Treviso, Rocca d'Olgisio Castle in the Pianello Val Tidone in Italy, Amstelkerk Concert Hall in Amsterdam, Grand Concert Hall in the Kunstlinie Almere Flevoland in Holland, Zhongshan Culture & Art Center in China . They performed piano duo recitals in many different cities in Austria, Germany, France, Holland, Italy, Spain, China and also has been invited to perform at some of the international music festivals. They performed with choirs and conductors, including the Graz Keplerspatzen Choir, the Choir of the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz , the Gleisdorf Choir in Austria.
In 2016, The Piano Duo Zilan & Zhao made their Recital at the Val Tidone Music Festival as the opening concert.
In 2017, they made their China Debut Recital at the Zhongshan Culture & Art Center in China, the Cap Ferret Music Festival in France, the Pianoduo Festival Amsterdam in Holland, also performed at the VIII International Chamber Music Festival "Fundación MonteLeón" in Spain. They performed in the TV and radio broadcasts in China and Europe, like the Austria Television ORF, NPO Radio 4 Holland.
ZILAN LIANG

1997-2001: Formal piano training at Sichuan Conservatory with Prof. Feng Yi.
2002: Selected by Sino-Austria cultural exchange program from China to enter University in Austria for advanced music deduation.
2002-2006: Studied concert piano at the Jeseph Haydn Konservatorium with Prof. James McChesney in Austria. Received Diploma for Concert Piano Degree.
2005-2009: Studied The Bachelor of the Piano Performance with renown concert pianist Prof. Markus Schirmer at the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz.
2009: Graduated from the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz with the Bachelor of Art Degree in Piano Performance.
2008-2009: Studied Fortepiano as the special Project with Prof. Dr. Katharina Olivia Brand at the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz.
2009-2011: Studied The Master of the Piano Performance at the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz with renown concert pianist Prof. Balázs Szokolay.
2011: Postgraduated from the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz with the Master of Art Degree in Piano Performance.
